At Better Homes and Gardens® Real Estate Reliance Partners heart matters and we celebrate our culture of caring. We care about our community and each other. We are your neighbors. We are your friends. We strive to make a positive difference in our communities: Living Better Giving.
It starts with us. We have contributed and helped raised thousands of dollars and additional resources for a variety of worthwhile causes in our community, including supporting local food banks, disaster support for fire victims and CAL FIRE firefighters, food and educational supplies for local schools, and volunteering for BHGRE®’s New Story charity providing homes to people living in inadequate housing.
We hope you take a moment to learn how you can help too, starting with the active fundraisers for one of five food banks in your area. Click on one of the logos below the video on this page to help fight hunger today!
Mike Kooken, BHGRE® Reliance Partners’ VP, Brokerage Compliance & Broker of Record, is letting his beard go this November for a good cause for the 5th year in a row. The goal of No-Shave November is to grow awareness by embracing our hair, which many cancer patients lose, and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle.
No-Shave November is a web-based, non-profit organization devoted to growing cancer awareness and raising funds to support cancer prevention, research, and education. Everyone has someone in their life who has been affected by cancer. Every three minutes, someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer like leukemia. It can happen to anyone, at any time. But so can a cure such as a marrow or cord blood transplant.
This year, Mike is focusing on “Be The Match”. Learn more at BeTheMatch.org about the heart of our mission: delivering cures for blood cancers.
We are passionate about our mission of Living Better Giving. To-date, we have raised over $15,000 through our Help Fight Hunger campaigns. These donations have served to provide over 40,000 meals to children, families, seniors and individuals across five California counties. Thank you to our food bank partners who work tirelessly to end hunger: Alameda County Community Food Bank, Food Bank of Contra Costa & Solano, Fair Oaks Orangevale Food Bank, Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services, and Placer Food Bank.
How will YOU spend your next 10 seconds? To help us reach our donation goals, click on the logo of the food bank nearest you to give. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you for your thoughtful donation.
The 2021 In Memory of Shelley Bike and Helmet Drive is live!
Reliance Partners Realtor Rex Hescock spearheads our annual holiday bike and helmet drive in memory of his wife Shelley Hescock. Their inspiration for the bike drive was born from her childhood -- a memory of getting her first bicycle and how it gave her a sense of adventure. The mission of donating bikes to charity for those in need was close to her heart. In 2020, they donated 95 bikes and 60 helmets. Over the years, they have donated more than 200 bikes. We have partnered with WEAVE, a local non-profit provider of crisis intervention services in Sacramento County. Our goal in 2021 is 150 bikes and helmets.
Leading from the heart is where hope begins. BHGRE Reliance Partners is proud to support the Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento, an emergency shelter for kids in need of safe housing and care. Lori Logan, our Fair Oaks Sales Manager, experienced this home first-hand at age twelve when she became a resident. Lori’s story and passion for CRH has inspired many others to support this important shelter for impacted children. Lori was the first former resident to serve on their Board of Directors.
The devastating impact of wildfires in Northern California have been felt throughout our region over the past several years. Across our 9 offices, we have raised funds and donations for California fire victims and also the CAL FIRE firefighters risking their lives on the front line defense of these natural disasters, including the Santa Rosa Tubbs fire (2017), the Paradise Camp Fire (2018) and others.
In recent years, Reliance Partners agents and staff have worked hard and garnered thousands of dollars in gift cards, truckloads of blankets and clothes for fire victims and also provided needed supplies, in the form of hydropacks, water, energy bars, for the firefighters.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, Reliance Partners worked with Achieve Academy to deliver food every Thursday to 45 families per week, consisting of healthy produce, poultry and other nutritional staples. Achieve Academy (TK-5) provides quality academics with a strong focus on character development to students in the Fruitvale neighborhood in Oakland.
